Hi Matt, I saw your post in the BS Psych thread. I would love to take a Biblical Archeology course. Where did you do this? What was the assumption? The bible is nonsense? the bible is historical? the bible is the word of god? (man, this thread could take off in a bad direction) I'd also like to find a good Biblical Psychology course.
Biblical Archeology indeed Hi James, The course was a secular course from the University of Iowa for all of one credit. Same prof, J. Kenneth Kuntz; in 1994 it was 5 lessons and no exam; they've apparently added an exam now. Link is: http://tinyurl.com/8pmde I'd say it was a "liberal-ish" course, not Evangelical (not that I would have expected as much at U Iowa), but neither was it a flaming Bishop Spong/Da Vinci Code silliness thing. I thought the materials were good, and I learned quite a bit; it was a good intro to correspondance study. The caveat I'd add is that, well, a lot can change in 11 years besides adding email and exchanging VHS cassettes for DVD! -> Matt
Biblical Psych While I can't vouch for any online program or course even from an institution claiming to be Christian or Evangelical (simply because I've never taken such courses), I know that the trusty Baker's Guide (http://bakersguide.gospelcom.net/programs.php) has several such programs listed, as does Taylor University (http://tinyurl.com/e49up). Again, these aren't recommendations; perhaps someone else out there has taken one of these and would care to comment. Having said that, one resource I *would* recommend is Thomas Oden's brilliant Care of Souls in the Classic Tradition, very Biblical as well as Patristically based, from a scholar who knows well the ground on both sides of the fence! ->. Happlily, the whole thing is available online for free, at http://www.religion-online.org/showbook.asp?title=1938 Peace, Matt
