Dear Griends, I know the French VAE procedure. I have heard that some not all US universities give credits for work experience also . Is it called PLA ? if so what does stand for? Or has it a another acronym? Could. I have a description of it and how it works? Thank you I am just researching, Is it regulated as the French VAE, or is it left to each university? Thank you
PLA stands for "Prior Learning Assessment". Essentially it is a "portfolio" exercise, whereby the learner/student documents their experiential learning ("where" you learned the knowledge, "how" you learned it, "when" you learned it, and exactly "what" you learned). This, when accompanied by sufficient evidentiary materials, can lead to the awarding of college credit by certain schools. Note: this is NOT the same as simply "credit for life experience", which is a tactic used by many degree mills. That would be an oversimplification. Some of my PLAs were the hardest things I've had to do! I'm not sure how this compares to VAE, but I hope that answers your question! Cheers.
is it PLA or PLAR ? Thanks is there any page I can look at the procedure. I saw also PLAR ..what is correct. Regards
Never heard of PLAR - typo? Here is the PLA page from Thomas Edison State College (Note: other schools may do it different ways): http://www.tesc.edu/prospective/undergraduate/credit/pla.php Cheers.
