It's a disturbing website, Dr Clifton. There is an academics page and an admissions page (why? for a closed school?) under construction. There are subtle verbal distancings of the ABCS name from the recent ACCS, which could lead the unwary into thinking the two were separate schools (why? for a closed school?). There are fake pictures of buildings and grads instead of real pictures from the history of ABCS/ACCS (why? for a closed school?). Why not call it an ABCS/ACCS alumni site? (More distancing from ACCS). Nothing in it looks reminiscent, historical, or human-interest as in any other alumni website I have ever seen. (Why not?)

I have a hunch this is a setup phase for a far less than wonderful goatbag trading upon the name of ABCS/ACCS. Can't prove it, but it just smells bad.

And, Jimmy, as you remember but some newer posters may not, I always wished ACCS well while having some criticisms based on firsthand onsite observations of the place. I had hoped they would make the TRACS-mandated corrections and keep their accreditation, but they did not do so.

Thanks for scaring up this thing--but severe caution is in order, I'm afraid.

    Uncle Janko,

I had my suspicions too when I pulled it up. There are a number of items that just don't make sense to me.

The "News and Events" page has some interesting info on it, I think, but the rest almost looks like the beginnings of a new start up that may end up being a mill.

I wonder if the new mill, if that's what it ends up becoming, can acutally use the name American Bible College and Seminary.

I know when the American Unitarian Conference tried to exist as American Unitarian Association the UUA initiated a law suit claiming ownership of that name.

    It will be interesting.

Very strange indeed. Whoever set it up must have bought the domain and is acting as if ABCS was different from ACCS. It was NOT. Same program, etc. They then act as if they have heard rumours that ACCS is going to continue with volunteer staff (likely from this site).

Then....indeed they have set up their site to look like they will offer degree programs. Just plain .....Bizarre!

It seems unfair that they are leaving YOU out of the alumni festivities- -as a post 2001 grad! It is kind of mysterious. I hope they are able to make a reasonable comeback though.

It would appear that the folks operating this ABCS site are not connected with the school itself. The school is apparently going to reconstitute and attempt accreditation again and I wish them well. The person with the ABCS site seems to have heard these rumours (possibly from degreeinfo).

This site though is strange. Maybe an alumni who has come up with an idea to make money?? Things that make you go hmmmm.
It makes a bogus separation between ABCS & ACCS.

The pictures are funny too. Don't know how many times I have seen that guy with the goatee (first saw him on a bill board add for U of Pheonix).

I forgot how but there is a site you can check to see who owns this (abcs site now).

It's www.whois.com but the edu. extension is not listed as an option.

At first I was kind of reminded of the veteran reunions I have seen advertised in a Seabee newsletter I get. Sometimes they may have a get together for just the vets that were in my battalion during Vietnam, for example. On the other hand, the website for vets of my old battalion (NMCB 74) is inclusive of everybody who has ever served. The ABCS website does not appear like a typical alumni website. The separation between ABCS and ACCS does not seem logical to me either.

I found this forum when I was searching the web for info about ACCS (ABCS).

My husband attended that school. He completed all his course work just as the school was closing down. He can not get his degree. We are getting nowhere!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

Religious schools are exempt from state licensing and thus there really isn't a way. If it was just a secular, private post-secondary you could contact the state regulatory commission/agency. You might want to try anyway, they may not have claimed the religious exemption. The state could at least get you a transcript, but not a diploma.

Yes, yes there is a way. Contact their former accrediting agency for help and advice. ACCS had an agreement with TRACS to grant degrees to its graduates after they lost their accreditation.

They don't keep any student info. Most accreditors don't.

    Oh, I didn't know that.

Well, I've just sent an email to tracs anyway. At this point it can't hurt. We've tried everything we can think of.

This isn't about keeping student records by accreditors, this is about contacting the accreditor to inform them of a problem and to make sure ACCS keeps their "teach out" agreement.

    Re: Thank you!

Congratulations. I'm glad that worked out. Just curious which degree did your husband receive?
