After much debate I have finally decided to conquer my enemy a Degree. I plan to start with an Associate in Science, Business via Excelsior. I have 3 credits that I'm aware of a (biology class taken in 1996 @ Atlanta Metropolitan College) So basically I'm starting from scratch. Over the last 3 months I have lost 30lbs by strict dieting and 4 days a week weight lifting and that has given me the courage to diligently seek a degree. .Thank You to everyone that post on this forum for giving me even more confidence that I can do this. My Plan is to Clep this degree until I reach the end. My question is I have been having an extremely hard time finding the requirements for the Associates in Science, Business Degree from EC I found this Post and wanted to know if this plan is still prevelant

    33 Hrs Arts and Sciences
3 hours Written English (Excelsior ECE or TECEP English Comp I)

6 hours Humanities (CLEP General Humanities or CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature)

12 Hours Social Sciences/History (CLEP Macroeconomics, CLEP Microeconomics, CLEP Western Civilization I and II)

6 Hours Math and Sciences (CLEP College Algebra, DANTES Statistics)

6 Hours Remaining Arts and Sciences (CLEP Natural Science or one of the Humanities exams listed above)

    21 Hrs Business Component

CLEP Principles of Accounting (6 hours)
CLEP Introductory Business Law (3 hours)
CLEP Info Systems and Computer Applications (3 hours) OR DANTES Intro to Computing (3 hours)
CLEP Principles of Management (3 hours)
CLEP Principles of Marketing (3 hours)
DANTES Principles of Supervision (3 hours)

    6 Hrs Additional Credit
Excelsior online Information Literacy Requirement (1 hour)
DANTES Here's To Your Health (3 hours)
CLEP Introductory Psychology OR Sociology (3 hours), or something else that you may enjoy.

This will get you to an Associates degree quickly, and the nice thing is that every single one of the above exams can also be used towards an Excelsior BS in General Business.

Many of the above exams are quite straightforward and easy if you're good at taking exams. If you don't have any Accounting, Economics or Statistics knowledge these will take a bit more time to learn but otherwise it should be pretty smooth sailing. DANTES Here's To Your Health and CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature are 2 of the easiest exams you can take.

Any Input would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in Advance

From the Excelsior "Liberal Arts Viewbook"

    The Associate in Science Degree

The Associate in Science degree requires a minimum of 60 semester hours. Within that total, at least 30 of the 60 semester hours must be earned in the arts and sciences and the remaining 30 semester hours may be earned in applied professional courses, additional arts and sciences courses or a combination of both.

    Requirements:
    - Information Literacy: 1 credit
    - Written English: 3 credits
    - General Education: 24 credits - 9 credits in each of two areas, 6 credits in one of the following: Humanities, Social Sciences/History or Natural Sciences/Mathematics
    - Arts and Sciences Electives: 3 credits
    - Applied Professional Credits: 30 credits

    Blue Walker,

Congrats on your decision. I am now completing the Associate in Science Degree in Business at Excelsior. Just re-enrolled recently so am subject to the current requirements and know them quite well in case you have any more specific questions.

I have got all my credits through CLEP and DANTES, some very recent in this last year. With one exception, the English Composition requirement (which I'm now working on), in which I have enrolled in a correspondence course with another university. I might do the same for the INFORMATION LITERACY requirement, which I also have left to do.

You should download the Business catalog from the Excelsior web page to have the most complete and up to date information on requirements. It's a bit hard to find and you might have to register with a username and password (I think you can do that without being enrolled). The exact link is:
    https://www.excelsior.edu/portal/page?_pageid=57,76056&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
(Click on the "Download the School of Business and Technology Catalog" for the PDF)

Good luck, and let me know if I can be of any assistance.
