    Hello,
I am currently enrolled at TESC and am looking to take some cheaper classes on the side that dont require taking a proctered final or mid exam. I know that CLovis CC is a cheap option that does not require proctered testing and is cheap ($50) .

Anyone have any other ideas or experiances with other schools??

Those taking only distance education courses can get a tuition discount, but you have to fill out a form each semester.

Not that it matters, but I don't really understand the total aversion to proctored examinations.

I would have a big problem with proctored exams if they were only available from a testing center open from 9-5. I know Prometric centers are open on Saturdays, but those days are in huge demand, as I remember when I tried (and failed) to schedule a GMAT on a Saturday. Regularly taking off work for tests would definitely be problematic.

    Hey,
Thanks for that!! I emailed them to make sure that they dont procter test. I need a class they offer so that would be great.

My aversion to proctered tests is that this year i am in Europe so it makes it a little hard to come in for a proctered test. I want to keep taking courses even tho i am here so that is the reason, otherwise i have no problem doing it.

Let me know if you all have any more info.

As has been stated here before (by me and others), it isn't really that difficult to find proctors in Europe.

I am in Estonia (for a few more weeks anyway) and have had two different people quickly offer to proctor exams. One is an instructor at a degree-granting institution (Estonian Music Academy) and the other is a librarian.

I would recommend that if you need a class that must have a proctor, go to the area libraries and ask if someone can serve in that capacity. I can't imagine that someone won't. But even if they did, go hang out at a university and talk to some instructors (or the librarian) and see what you can find.

You just have to be proactive and creative.

Having said all of that, I would go for non-proctored exams or no exams too, if available.

I know that Univ of Idaho has a DL non-exam ethics class found here.

I can totally relate to an aversion to proctored exams. I am on my final course for my psych BA from COSC, but it has taken me years, in part because I had no idea of how I would be able to find a reliable proctor (e.g., one who would return my exam in a timely manner) in the area in which I was living (in Asia). I am now on my last course, and mainly becuase I had no choice I took a U Alaska course which includes four exams. Through friends, I was able to find a proctor at a local college, and he has been helpful and friendly. I have taken one exam so far, and it went fine, and I understand it was returned OK. U Alaska have been great about it, too.

In the end, I would say that while it's not a bad idea to try and exhaust non-exam course possibilities, keep an eye open for a university or college official, perhaps someone who might be an aquaintence of a friend, who would be qualified to proctor exams. Once you actually work out the logistics, the exams themselves are not likely to be all that difficult, especailly at an undergrad/multiple choice level.

    Thanks for the info.
Since i am attending TESC and thier international procter rules are a little differant. Here is thier request

"All Thomas Edison State College exams administered outside the U.S. must be taken through an academic dean or full-time faculty member at an approved American university; or with the education officer at an American embassy or consulate; or with an administrator of CLEP or TOEFL exams at an approved CLEP or TOEFL testing site."

So i was able to find a US college that had a site here(norway) and i was able to get the Toefl admisntrater at the U. of Oslo to help me out. The shipping is a little pricey!!
    80$ one way!!
