Yes. North Central Association is a regional accreditation association.

Yes. It's the largest of the six regional accreditors, in fact.

(It looks like they've redesigned their website.)

    invisitus,

I echo everything Ted and Bill said, and I hereby add: There are six (6) regional accreditors. You may see them listed, and obtain links to their web sites, by clicking here.

As long as I'm at it, you can see a list of the national accreditors by clicking here; and you may see a list of the specialized accreditors by clicking here.

You should know that there are tiny handful of national and specialized accreditors that are USDE-approved, but not CHEA-approved (and possibly vice versa). I'm pretty sure that that may be more easily seen (or at least appreciated) in this PDF file.

To look-up any institution and determine if it's accredited by a USDE- and/or CHEA-approved agency, use either this database; or this one (preferably both). You should also know tha the latter of the two databases I just recommended has had some problems since its relatively recent inception, and may or may not be completely reliable yet. The former of the two databases I just recommended, on the other hand, has been known to be both complete and reliable for some time. However, since there are accreditors listed in the latter (USDE) database that aren't listed in the former (CHEA) database (ostensibly because USDE approves more accreditors than does CHEA), it would be better if the latter database were the complete and reliable one. It may now be, I don't know. Just know that not that long ago it wasn't.

The above is quite a succinct and useful summary of the USA's legitimate (regional, national and specialized) accrediting organizations - and the necessary, hallowed, and mostly unassailable ethical and academic quality gatekeepers (CHEA and USDoE).

    Thank you.

    :)
