I am interested in getting a master's degree from Columbia Southern Uinversity (Orange Beach, Alabama) in Occupational Safety and Health. Can anyone tell me about this school? I dont want to waste time an money on this school if it is a diploma mill.
Columbia Southern University http://www.colsouth.edu is a legitimate DL school, accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). In some cases (grad school admissions) DETC accreditation may not be as useful as regional accreditation, but it certainly tells you you're not dealing with a degree mill. Columbia State University (which is the title of this thread) was a notorious diploma mill that was shut down by the FBI and the owner was imprisoned. You can still by Columbia State diplomas in some places, so be sure what you're dealing with. Bruce
Bruce, I have worked for two distance learning universities in the past three years, if you are not Regionally or Nationally accredited the degree doesn't mean anything! I hate to say it but it is true, and no the universities I worked for were not regionally or nationally accredited.
