Suothern Christian University (RA-SACS accredited) has put together a new PhD program in Biblical Studies. The coursework can be completed by distance learning and modular classes. http://www.southernchristian.edu/TurnerSchool.htm

Theologically, SCU is affiliated with the Restoration Movement (Church of Christ).

Thank you for this info. For those who may not know, the Restoration Movement also includes the independent Christian churches/churches of Christ, the Boston Movement, and the Disciples of Christ as well as a host of others. :)

I am more affiliated with Church of God and Assemblies of God as my preference for worshiping and learning about God.

What exactly is the restoration movement?

here is my current church I am going to, an independant evangelical Church:

You should download a serman from the site, they are in MP3 and streaming MP3 format. I love the pastor, I can just really get the things he is saying and how he is saying them.

I am not sure about various church's of God.

The Church of God denomonation I know about, that is in this area, knoxville, TN, is very similar to Assemblies of God in worship, beliefs, etc. I think they are just more "Evangelical" if you know what I mean. THey do not have anything against dancing like Assemlies of god does?? People will regularly dance a little bit during worship with some people having a great time getting down.

I hope this clarifies the denomonation for ya, other than that, no specifics.

Asseblies of God is very Evangelical also though, just in a different way.

The church I am going to now wich is non-denominational is similar to both COG and AOG in worship and beliefs, just real into Literal word of God belief, the book of acts ;-) , etc.

I consider the development of this new PhD program at SCU to be very positive. It has been a fun delight to watch the changes and growth in the profile of this institution over the course of the last decade.

Together with the quality distance learning opportunities for advanced graduate education (Th.M. or Ph.D.) being offered at places like Reformed Theological Seminary, Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and Regent University, this program provides a valuable service to the American Christian community.

I wish the SCU folks much success as they undertake this new venture.

I looked at the website. It looks like a topnotch program. The language requirements are what you would expect from a quality PhD program in theology, as well. It's great to see these DL opportunities at quality seminaries.
