Any thoughts in regard to Ashworth College and the MBA program? I know it is located in NE Atlanta but that is about it. Any information would be appreciated
They are accredited by DETC but they are not RA, with all that entails in terms of RA vs. DETC arguments that could be found here IF THE SEARCH FUNCTION WERE WORKING PROPERLY. They are definitely inexpensive. I don't think you'll find another accredited MBA degree for ~ $5,000, and with a $99/month payment plan. A few old threads on the Ashworth MBA: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20047 http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16877 http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13608 http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12110 http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11804 http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11659 http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11635
Ashworth is an accredited school. I attained an AS in CJ from them and found them to be very inexpensive but also have very shotty customer service. It is difficult to get an answer to an email or phone call. When I was a student, there was not even an option to speak to a human. You had to leave a message and they would call you back at their earliest convineice....which was never. Lastly they screwed up their auto bill pay whenever they transfered over to a new payment system and lost my billing information, but not the fact that I owed them money. Naturally I could not get someone on the phone to ask why and they called me about 6 months later demanding over $300.00 in past due payments. I was livid. Personally if you are considering getting a NA MBA, I strongly suggest paying the extra $1000 to $1500 to be able to get assistance when needed and avoid the frustrations I have had. California Coast University...about $6200 and you can rent the books for $20.00 a month. Andrew Jackson University...about $5000 roughly, but you have to buy your own books. This one is probably a best buy. Southwest University...about $6200 plus cost of books. Best thing about this school is that they have been around for a long time and still have a small enough student body to pay attention to you. Give the above 3 a call...you won't regret it.
First, Ted: Agreed as to your words in all-caps and bold... as I'm sure you know. Second, as I believe you've pointed out elsewhere herein, the search kinda' sorta' works at least for posts made since the forum changed servers and all the downtime, etc. Or maybe it works back a little before that, I'm not sure. But you're right that it's not working, that's for sure. At any rate, Veteran101, Ashworth has actually been discussed here quite a bit lately. Below are search results for just the threads which contain the word "Ashworth" in which I, for one, have made at least one posting: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=359195&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending I don't know if any of them duplicate what Ted posted, but you might want to check-out the ones that don't.
Only one of your seven threads overlapped one of my seven threads. Apparently, the search function is only going back to May 2005 again.
American Military University www.apus.edu is $250/hr. * 36 credits = $9000 for the degree. Presently, they are DETC only, but they are RA candidates with NCA.
I suffered great pains when I tried to get help when I took a PCDI diploma for fun. They are working out kinks on their website. Most of the time, an email was answered promptly. I stayed away from the phones. Got too frustrated. I have talked to their MBA people and they sound knowledgable and seem better than their PCDI diploma counterparts. Ashworth's big appeal is the cost. I'm either enrolling there or at Southwest in the next month.
There's a not-insignificant difference in price between the two. After purchasing textbooks and other materials at Southwest, that roughly $1,200 difference between Southwest and Ashworth (with Southwest costing more) could easily become $2,000 or thereabouts. Is a degree from Southwest really worth that much more than one from Ashworth... even considering the time value of dealing with Ashworth's support? I mean, they're both NA (as opposed to RA). Or is the bad taste you have in your mouth from your PCDI experience just too much to ignore? If so, I'll say that you're not the first person I've heard make that argument. Anyway... just wonderin'
That's true Deselms....good point. You could consider California Coast U as they are still very inexpensive and will RENT the books to you.
