I e-mailed them several times when I was considering then and never heard from them. Finally, last week I got a huge packet of material in the mail... So I would suppose patience and persistence is the key... I have already started another program, so if you want me to mail you what I received from them, I will. Just pm me your address...

Dude!, You are in Sweden (bet you didn't know that!) so maybe I might not be willing to mail the info to you... Oh, what the heck, I've never mailed anything to Sweden, so I probably would if you would like me to...

Gosh! It would be nice if Jack Tracey would chime in here. Maybe email is not their preferred mode of communication.

Well, I don't mind revealing the deep, dark mysteries of email communication with UNISA. This is what I've done (all three times) and it has worked each time.
    1) Don't bother emailing the admissions office or the registrars office.
    2) Go to the website of the departments you have interest in enrolling. Find the email address of the Dept. Head and the Departmental Administrative Assistant. Compose an email to the Dept. Head and cc it to the Admin Asst. Neither of these people will answer you but they will forward it to the correct person. In my case, this was the faculty person in charge of the graduate program (who is never advertised as such in the faculty description).
    3) In your email you should include a generous amount of information about yourself. Previous education, employment, current academic interests, why you're interested in UNISA. It is worthwhile to spend some time composing this email message. Polish it a bit. Maybe more than a bit. If you've got a nicely done resume stuck in your computer somewhere then you might consider sending it as an attachment to the email. If you're interest is in a grad degree then you might say something about your specific area of interest. Before you do that however, you might want to check to see if there's a person on the faculty who could conceivably support such a topic.
    4) The purpose of all this is to give them the idea that you are serious about attending their school. Then, they will be willing to answer your question(s). You do have questions, don't you?
Try not to make these questions that are already answered on the website. This might give the impression that you're not willing to do a little research first.
    5) In every case I received an answer within three days. In every case my questions were answered in a clear concise manner. In every case I was sent extra information about the specific degree program, about the department, etc. that wasn't on the website (I specifically asked if there was more information available).
    6) In general I tried to present myself as being very polite, very motivated, and interested in their specific degree program. Emails that say essentially, "Send me some information about your school," will not get answered (I don't know that you did that, I'm just guessing that they get about a zillion of these per day).
    7) If all else fails, use the telephone (and be mindful of the time difference).
    Good luck.
    Jack

    Hi,

I contacted UNISA before 4 years...They were sooo slow. Then, I contacted the University of Pretoria. They are sooo different. They are very supportive and quick. My dealing with them was First class.

    Best wishes

    John,

I mailed the info that I received from UNISA to you this morning. I will probably take 3 to 4 weeks to get to you in Sweden. Hope it helps!
