Oh my! I just started this course, and feel like I am dying on the vine... This is one of the required stats courses which uses SPSS. Anyone out there take this course? Any pointers?

If not, for those that do, pray for me. I am catching it. Feel like I did when I took my first math class and I discovered there really were things called negative numbers.

I just finished the classwork section for my Phd at TUI, and Del 618 was one of my classes.

I've included some hyperlinks to some good resources on the 'net that really helped.

After having taken the class I'd say the hardest part was not figuring out the stats, but understanding your results. SPSS is not that hard to figure out.

Interpreting your results within the scope of your topic was for me. As you work through the modules, try and understand the context within which you'd use the specific SPSS test.

Fairly soon you'll have to apply the hypothetical exercises to your own work, and it will make more sense.

    More equation modeling

    UCLS SPSS tests- good!

Finally, use your other students as resources. On a continual basis, if I posted a question or concern on Coursenet, someone else always picked it up and pointed me in the right direction. Other students are 'discovering' online resources, and sometimes all it takes is a question for them to let you know of it.

There may be someone in the TUI Ph.D. student group that can offer advice:

Note that we started as a business administration group but welcome the education and health sciences students as well.

Thanks much! I had stats yrs ago, and used it sparingly. I appreciate your help as I am knocking my brain trying to keep up.

I don't mind working hard. In fact, I appreciate the effort. However, I do not like feeling like I am part of the crew of "Lost in Space".
