    Hi Guys,

I have not had any success in locating an interesting thread that was among the first posts I read when becoming a member of degreeinfo.com: University of Louisiana at Lafayette (University of Sothwestern Louisiana) Professor resigns due to correspondence doctorate. I have tried more than a few different search (boolean) combinations on this site, but have had no success this far. The professor was--if I remember correctly-a graduate of NOVA. I could be wrong.

    Thanks, Karl

Well, SINCE THE SEARCH FUNCTION IS NOT WORKING, you may just have to do things the old-fashioned way. Since it was the first thread you read, one might look underneath your screen name and find that you joined degreeinfo.com in July 2003. Determine which of the five discussion boards it might have been on. Ask to have the threads for the last year displayed, and ask to go to the last page, which will take you back to July 2004. Then choose show threads to the beginning and advance three pages at a time until you get back to July 2003.

Was it on Distance Learning Discussions (sounds likely), IT and Computer-Related Discussions (could have been if it was an IT/CS prof), Off-Topic Discussions (maybe), Accredited vs. State-Approved vs. Unaccredited Discussions (might have been, if it was the DL nature of the degree and if the DL was mistaken for UA), or Political Discussions (sounds reasonable, if the original poster thought that the termination of a prof with a DL doc was a political act worthy of revolution)?

Well, you will find July 2003 Distance Learning Discussions starting on page 185. You will find July 2003 IT & Computer-Related Discussions starting on page 12. You will find July 2003 Off-Topic Discussions starting on page 67. You will find July 2003 Accredited vs. State Approved vs. Unaccredited Discussions starting on page 42. You will find July 2003 Political Discussions not at all, as that board only goes up to page 13 and July 2004.

Now that we've narrowed it down to four possible boards out of the five, the next question is whether this was a new thread when you first joined or was it already old when you first joined? Were the terms "University of Southwestern Louisiana" or "University of Louisiana at Lafayette" or "Nova University" in the thread title? Or was this a mutated thread? If so, do you remember the original subject of the thread?

    Happy hunting!

    Yikes!

I don't understand why the members of this board are not screaming bloody murder over the fact that the SEARCH function is dysfunctional. One of this board's most salient features and benefits (the ability to look back to its beginning and read all there is to read here about a given subject) is now gone.

All it would take to fix it is a little fiddling around with and repairing the database. Why is no one demanding that this be done? I dont' get it.

    The Google trick of searching-

    <university of louisiana site:degreeinfo.com>

-yields results. A cursory look suggests this school should be avoided.

I'm pretty sure that it's because demanding anything probably won't motivate anyone.

Thanks for everyone's replies...and more importantly, thanks for making me aware that the search function is "not working." Certainly reminds me that I need to stay on top of visits to the site. I had no idea search was not working (disabled).

    Thanks, Karl

I had posted this a few months ago in a detc doctorate thread....

    "At University of Louisiana Monroe,
    http://www.ulm.edu/construction/ensminger.htm
"Dr. Ensminger joined the School of Construction faculty in the fall semester 2001. Dr. Ensminger graduated from the ULM School of Construction in 1973. He received his Master's in Education from ULM in 1988, his Education Specialist's Degree, also from ULM, in 1990, and his Ph.D. in Education from the Louisiana Baptist University in 2004. ""

    It is similar maybe.

    Bing,

    Thanks for the information.

I haven't had any success in locating the post--so time consuming--but I recall the professor in question was female and a graduate of NOVA.

    Thanks, Karl

You mean someone was whacked because they have a Nova PhD? That's incredible. Surely there must be more to the story than just a Nova PhD. My gosh. There are dudes teaching at regular brick and mortars with a doctorate from CCU.

Just out of curiosity, was the Nova PhD from Nova University (Florida) or Nova College (Canada)?
