    Hey Everybody,

I'm looking at getting a second Bachelor's through Excelsior but cannot seem to find any cost information on their website. If anyone knows where their cost info is located on the website or has a general idea of costs please let me know. I'm planning on taking the GRE and tranferring my credits from TESC (I think I read that ECE will take an unlimited number of transfer credits). Thanks for the help in advance.

The annual fee is about $900, which you can pay in, I believe, three payments. After that, the costs depend upon how you earn your credits. If you take classes at LSU, for example, your tuition, paid to LSU, would be about $229 per class. If you take CLEPS or DANTES you will pay around $75 per test. Excelsior exams cost more. At the end there is a graduation fee of about $400. The annual fee covers all advisement and transfer services. I liked the program because I could shop around for your classes to find the best rate (which was usually LSU).

    Thank Anthony.

    What doses LSU stand for?

    Thanks

Thank you, that's a lot less expensive than I was expecting - I was thinking it would end up costing at least 3000 - 4000 dollars. I appreciate the reply.

Excelsior's initial fee is just about $900 but the annual fee after the first year is right around $500.

There is a graduation/completion fee right around $500 too.

You'll have to take at least one Excelsior course - information literacy - at about $250. There are less expensive places to take other courses you may need. LSU and BYU are a couple. Local State U is probably another.

Excelsior has very specific 2nd undergrad rules -- you need to make sure you're clear on them before you spend money.

You might also find that Excelsior's expectation of upper level coursework is higher than your present undergrad degree.

    Thank cdhale.

I went to through LSU and found it too flexible but very expensive to take their courses from Europe.

If you say so. My wife took a course from them and we live in Europe, as well. They simply add $50 US to the cost, making each course $279, plus books.

Thats still pretty cheap for a course you can do on your own time.

I mean exam cost like traveling to the appropriate test center and protector cost:

See their guideline: “Examinations are given only at the centers listed and only on the days and at the times specified. If you do not live in Louisiana, you must take your test at the testing center of an accredited community college/college/university or with a college administrator, or a UCEA Independent Study department”.

    Yep,
Got it covered. Like I said, it isn't theory on our part. We made contact with an instructor at the Estonian Music Academy who offered to proctor the exams. Doesn't cost a penny for us.

Basically, you just have to find a librarian or intructor of some sort from a college/university/academy that can and will qualify. Simply send the contact info to LSU and they will allow or disallow the proctor. I think Librarians are pretty much good to go, though.

So check with local libraries and find out if anyone there will serve as proctor and what the fee is.

    That’s is great….

Of curse, I do have a plan to fulfill the Excelsior major requirement to earn a BA Political Science.

How do I know which courses of LSU will earn me upper level?

For cost effectiveness and route flexible to degree and MBA, I would like to take ABE Advance Diploma: http://www.abeuk.com/bis_syll_intro.htm

This UK professional qualification is recognized as equivalent to a second year undergraduate university studies. I don’t know how can Excelsior evaluate that?

See the ABE Route to a Bachelor's Degree and MBA http://www.abeuk.com/rout_to_deg_mba.htm

See List of Universities and Professional Institutes that accept ABE Advance Diploma graduate: http://www.abeuk.com/afterqual.htm

I don't know anything about the ABE route. I do know that you will need to get most foreign courses/degrees, etc evaluated by a professional evaluation organization. Others here can link to them. I am not sure.

As to which courses will be considered upper level, generally speaking, if the course number starts with 1 or 2 (Such as Eng 101) then it is lower level. If it starts with 3 or 4 (Such as His 452) then it is upper level.
