I've sifted through lots of information on graduate programs in business. I've narrowed it down to 4 dl programs and a b&m cohort MA in Management being offered in my home town.

The DL schools are Bellevue, Baker, North Alabama and the MSA at Central Michigan. Because of its flexibility, lack of prerequisites and name recognition, I'm currently leaning towards CMU.

You can look at websites and syllabii all day but I am interested in hearing any experiences pro and con with the online delevery of the MSA at CMU.

Bama is in second place, Bellevue third and Baker fourth. If I can swing it, I'm going to an open house in town for the cohort MA tomorrow night.

    Thanks for any comments/advice.

I completed the Central Michigan University MSA – it was a great program. Unlike some off campus and online programs, every professor I had was employed fulltime by Central Michigan. The program was very demanding, and less than half of my starting class finished – but I highly recommend it.

    Denver,

I note on the syllabii that time commitment is normally 10-15 hours per week. Is that in the ball park?

I'm guessing that 640 Quantitative Applications is the class which requires the most math. Do you remember the level of math and stats required to do well in this?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Although I don't have any personal experience with CMU, I can tell you that the MSA was very popular and well-regarded with senior officers when I was an Air Force lieutenant in the 1990's. My colonel earned her MSA through CMU.

I took the MSA program with Central Mich. at a site they have in NC. While in the program, I took two on-line classes. They were very hard compared to the on-site classes or maybe I was just not as prepared for them. (They were the first on-line classes I ever took.) I loved my experience with CMU and would recommend the program to anyone looking for a non-MBA business program.

Great program at CMU! Just completed the MSA cohort in Memphis, TN. Graduating locally Saturday (Aug 29, 2009). I took one class on line. It was no joke! At CMU I preferred the class room! Go Chippewas!

    Good evening!

Although it's been over a decade since I finished my degree at CMU, I would say MSA 640 was the most math-intensive class with IET 500 running a close second. I took statistics as an undergraduate, and I felt reasonably well-prepared for 640. You may consider looking at the sample competency exam questions at http://www.cel.cmich.edu/student/services/STA-SampleExam.pdf to get a better feeling for the expected pre-requisite knowledge.

By the way, I took the General Administration concentration in the MSA, and it has served me well in both private sector and public sector positions. I understand you may have multiple options for the concentration, and you may be able to increase those options if you can drive to one of the regional centers.

Good luck with your search for the right program!
