    Hi group,
I have watched the boards for sometime, and appreciate the information that everyone has posted. It has kept me from making some dumb decisions on non-accredited universities. I am now in a position to complete my degree program, and looking at the Bachelors in Business Admin from California Coast University. If anyone has completed courses from Cal Coast, I would greatly appreciate some insight into their program....book requirements, course requirements, time span on completing individual courses, etc. Thanks in advance for your forthcoming responses!

I completed my BS and MBA from CCU but that was before they were DETC accreditied. I have a friend that just started the MBA program and he said it has changed dramatically.

There is a lot more work needed now. Contact the school.

Here we go again. Someone has information for a thread-starter, but wants to take it private. That's not what these forums are for. This isn't the academic equivalent of MATCH.COM

While there are certainly times when taking something private via PM or email is the right thing to do, this place is about exchanging information right out in the open so that bystanders can learn from it.

We don't get extra points for using as little of this forum's bandwidth or it's server's disk space as possible.

    Just ranting. Sorry.

No, I agree with DesElms. Nothing frustrates me more than seeing an interesting thread, waiting for the answer to a question and then somebody offering the information but only through an email. What is the big secret? Heck, I'd be interested in any info on Cal Coast, but what good does it do me if I need an email address and a secret handshake?

    opinions..........

now that I've read this post again I choose not to share information openly. There is nothing to learn from the way I took on the course work from CCU, how many classes I took at a time, my studies after midnight because of work and travel etc. etc. etc.

I notice everyone has an opinion on this board. Well , so do I. What makes you right? If I choose to help , it's my call how I will attempt to help someone else.

DesElm and TCord - I'm sure if I went into detail of how I went through a couple of years of school, you would throw your two cents into the mix. You are not the one asking for help.

To quote TCord- " nothing frustrates me more" than people thinking they have a right to control the flow of these threads.

Pro - option is still there if you want to PM me.

Randell- you are correct. BIG change since getting the DETC acc.

Hope your work is going well with your Phd and thanks for PMing me to help with CCU last year.

Wow, didnt mean to get an argument going!

Come on guys, we're all entitled to our opinions, but lets keep it professional. Everyone puts alot of work into their education, where it be online or traditional. I am simply trying to get a heads up on what I will be getting into if I enroll with CCU. I have been accepted into the program, and completed the credit evaluations. As far as that went, I would have hoped for more credit transfer from life experience and professional training, but what they gave me was fair. CCU has guidelines that they must go by, and have done a good job at explaining those to me. As far as how the courses have changed since DETC accreditation, if you could explain more!...... I finished several classes with American Military University, and the course work there was indeed fairly intensive. Financial constrains are the only thing stopping me from finishing studies there.

Again, thanks for all of the information, and I am sure that I am not the only one who would find this information helpful. I have watched this board from the background for over a year without posting, and picked up a lot of quality information.

If anyone is in need of information or assistance in the security operations/anti-terrorism, executive protection studies, feel free to contact me. I will give you whatever I have to help!

    my pitiful .02 cents

I'm fairly new here -- a friend sent me over. I've been involved in two DL programs and I'm an educator. I read almost every post and check out most of the schools posted. There's some *stuff* to get through in some of the threads but it's well worth it to get the information!

I'm very much interested in every aspect of DL as I'm seriously considering moving in that direction. Degrees, course structure, fees, papers, projects, accreditation, trials and tribulations -- it's all fascinating, and I'm hoping to use it to start some DL at my secondary school. I won't ever be the expert some of you guys are, but my goodness, I've learned an enourmous amount! Please keep the info on the board, so at least I *smile* can become better educated.

    Sorry to threadjack protectoro2001.

    Why? A rather interesting statement.

I heard they change the format since they applied for DETC. Maybe someone else can comment.

You could post your question at Jamesville and let one of the Jamesville Idiots answer, Dennis Ruhl. But remember to wash your hands afterwards.

    Just raggin on DesElms

RUKIDNME98: You'll have to excuse my friend DesElsms. You see, he's a loony ultra left wing liberal. And, as such, he thinks he knows what's best for everyone. Even though liberals invented penumbras and non existent privacy rights, DesElms still thinks you have an obligation to share all of your information openly. Ignore this; it's just more liberal hypocrisy.

Note: I can call my buddy DesElms loony because 1) he can take it and 2) he calls people like me right winged religious zealots (or something like that) on a regular basis.

In any case, you are right. It is completely up to you how you choose to share information. As a member of this forum, you have the privilege of using the PM feature when/if there is something you don't feel comfortable sharing openly.

Re: Wow, didnt mean to get an argument going!

Apparently you don't get how forums like this work (or are at least supposed to work). Apparently you think you're unique; that no one else is in a situation like yours, or could learn anything from your plight. If so, I can almost assure you that you're wrong. There are probably plenty whose personal story is similar to yours, and who could benefit from knowing something of the way you took on the coursework from CCU, or how many classes you took at a time, or your studies after midnight because of work and travel, etc., etc., etc. Plenty!

But you go right ahead and punish all the other readers here just because you don't like me or my criticism.

And that bothers you for some reason? I mean, you seem to find that so distasteful. Why?

Where's your aggression coming from? What did I ever do to you?

What if I wanted your help here? What did I do to be denied it... and with such vitriol, to boot?

It's "DesElms," with an "s" at the end...

...but, then, you already knew that, didn't you? (A rhetorical question.)

So? So might some others, too. So what?

You know, you don't need a forum; you need a matchmaking service... or at least that's how you apparently want to use this place... which is clearly not the way its creator intended for it to be used; or how most of the readers here would, I'm betting, like you to use it. Everyone reading or posting or just lurking is here to learn something, whether or not they actually post their desire. They don't learn anything from you the way you're trying to do things here. Clearly you don't care about that, however... making your use of phrases like "help someone esle" and "asking for help" a bit disingenuous, don't you think?

But that doesn't mean the one who did is the only one who could use some. Too bad you're not the one who will provide it; and that you're so clueless about how this place works... and always were.

(Damn! Now I gotta' go wash my hands!)

Ah, yes, the never-ending, right-winged, illogical chorus. What... reversing Roe v Wade isn't the very essence of telling others how to live? Liberals/progressives promote the notion of live and let live. It's right-winged zealots who want to tell the rest of us how to live. Everyone knows that.

We're not talking about obligation, here. Everything has a purpose. This place's purpose is to share information. Using it either to attract someone who can answer your questions, but then taking it private; or offering to answer them, but only in private, defeats the purpose of this place. That said, no one suggested that it was anyojne's obligation to do so. I'm just saying that not doing so is awfully self-interested. How little surprised I am, however, that that's how you think things should be done here.

So let me make sure I've got straight your logic: I'm "loony" because I refer to your ilk as "right-winged religious zealots"; ergo, "loony"="right-winged religious zealot." Hmm. Yes. I'd say that's about right.

And, yes, I can take it. But why suddenly from you? You and I haven't tangled in I can't even remember how long. And in private you PM and email me with your glad hand outstretched... yet now try to eviscerate me in public. What's up with that? Under those circumstances, it seems to me that you're using the word "buddy" fairly loosely.

That's absolutely correct; and I never meant to suggest otherwise. If it weren't correct, it would be a rule that one couldn't operate that way. But none of that has anything whatsoever to do with what this place is actually for, and how this place was intended to be used.

So... listen, Busho4... I'm really stunned by this attack. Where's it coming from? You haven't noticed that I've been pretty much leaving you alone? This is my reward then? Is that it... Buddy?

    :(

    Exactly...

And, yes, I can take it. But why suddenly from you? You and I haven't tangled in I can't even remember how long. [/B][/QUOTE]

Because it's a good little rivalry we had going. And since you haven't PM'd or argued with me in a while, I figured I'd try to get you going again. You’re not really offended, are you? Or, are you just trying to expose my compassionate side?

protectoro2001 and RUKIDNE98: What my friend Mr. DesElms is attempting to convey to you is (I think) that this is a public forum and postings thereto essentially create an historical record. That is, there may be others here now that may be interested in finding out about California Coast University. And there may be others who stumble onto this list in the future, long after this thread is ancient, who may stumble onto this thread, through (perhaps?) A WORKING SEARCH FUNCTION or maybe through diligent archaeological excavation through the degreeinfo.com archives, who may wish to know about California Coast University. So, I think, he might be saying that the benevolent thing to do might be to pass the information please.

You mean the old "penumbra of an emanation" routine. Just wonderrful, eh.
Pay no attention to the man behind the penumbra. It's dark on that side.
