I enrolled in the Baker College MBA program recently and I wanted to post a “Thank You” to this board and many of it’s regular posters for helping me come to this decision. Specifically, I’d like to thank Dr. Douglass, Gregg DesElms and Ted Heiks. Rich, thanks for your posts clarifying the utility issues of DETC vs. RA degrees. Gregg, thanks for encouraging me to see through the “New England Ivy” of local B&M schools and give DL programs a closer look. Ted, thanks for the thoughtful endorsement of Baker College that you gave to someone else, but which led me to the institution nonetheless.

Most especially, I want thank all of the folks who post their progress on Degreeinfo and those who have completed their MBAs. Your example, more than anything, led me to get up off of my ass and get started.

Well, it’s all up hill from here! This board is great, thanks again.

It is always good to know that one of my posts has helped others, even those to whom the post was not necessarily specifically directed. The good thing about degreeinfo is that it does create an historical record so that others can come along later and benefit from earlier postings.

You're welcome. It's so nice when this board's natural function is on display. Good luck in your program!

Not if the damned SEARCH feature isn't working right! There are gems of wisdom (or at least I thought they were gems) that I've written here that I can no longer access because when this site was moved to the new server, someone apparently thought "close" was good enough. It really chaps my ass, too, I might add!

    Grrrr.

Okay. Whew! I feel better now. ;)

    Anyway, RobbCD... congratulations!!!!!

And I, for one, am honored to have had any part -- howsoever small and insignificant -- in helping out somehow.

Life's funny (er... I mean... funnier than we all already know it is). We often never know how some little thing we do or say or write can contribute to a course change in someone's life; and then how said course change causes course changes in others' lives; and so on and so on. That's why when and if we ever figure out a way to go backward in time, we never should. Just walking down the street in the past and catching the eye of someone for a moment, thereby distracting him/her from noticing someone else whom, had s/he not been distracted by noticing the time traveler, s/he was supposed to meet, can cause people to not even have been born and whatever great things those unborn people might have done left undone...

...and so on and so on and so on and so on.

So... like... if RobbCD goes off with his Baker MBA and does something amazing that history will remember until the end of time, do any of us get partial credit? ;)

Actually, technically, the historical record still exists, even with the search function a bit clunky. It's just that searching for something becomes like as unto going on an archaeological excavation when you have to do it page by page for up to 350 pages. And, of course, having an actual working search function can be like having a metal detector.

Good point. But I'm not sure it's as simple as that. I fear that pieces of the old, pre-server-change database are damaged or missing. I'm very concerned about it, actually. Very concerned.

Of course, Ted is right. A person could scroll backwards through the pages and read the thread that seemed relevant. I'm frequently surprised to see someone posting a new thread to ask a question that has just been answered a bit further down the page. However, as we all know, many times threads mutate and a thread that starts out being about one topic can easily turn into another topic (only you'd never know this by reading the title of the thread or even the first few postings). Some of the gems of degreeinfo are to be found buried inside these mutated threads. While this underscores the usefulness of a good search feature it also underscores the need for us all to try to remain on topic and not hijack threads (as I've obviously just done myself). :(
