Does anyone have any input as to which exam would be the best to take... Clep College Algebra or the DSST Fundamentals of College Algebra?
It really depends on what your math requirements are. For the business program at Excelsior the DSST version doesn't meet the math requirement (although you could get credit prior to taking the CLEP version). Can you give more details as to what you need the Algebra for? Cheers, Mark
Will the DSST version meet your requirement? Although I haven't taken it I would guess that it's easier than the CLEP version. I suggest that if both meet your requirement you take a look at the data sheets for both exams: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/ex_ca.html http://www.getcollegecredit.com/pdfs/factsheets/Fund%20College%20Algebra.pdf and see which one appeals to you...but definitely check with your academic advisor to see which one(s) are accepted. Note that the DSST version allows you a non-programmable calculator. The CLEP version has a built-in calculator that they state won't actually be required. This can make a difference if you are back-solving to pick the right answer. Cheers, Mark
If you plan on taking the College Algebra CLEP, the following will help: www.purplemath.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/sim-explorer/explore-items/-/0375761519/0/101/1/none/purchase/ref%3Dpd%5Fsxp%5Fr0/104-5174856-2746331 (Princeton Review: Cracking the CLEP)
