Since Excelsior introduced distance courses and phased out some of its proficiency exams over the last couple of years, I've already begun thinking they are abandoning its assessment based philosophy to become a normal online school.
To my surprise, however, their current newsletter announces that 2005 and 2006 Excelsior will introduce several new exams:
    Bioethics(2006) - $185
    College Writing(summer 2005) - $205
    Cultural Diversity(2006) - $185
    Juvenile Deliquency(2006) - $185
    Social Psychology(2006) - $185
    Sociology of the Workplace(2006) - $185
    World Conflicts(October 2005) - $185

All exams except College Writing are upper level.

Just curious....is College Writing worth six credits, or three?

    Hi Bruce,

You receive 3 hours lower credit for the College Writing exam.

    Thanks for the info.

I suppose the College Writing exam covers the "Written English" requirement for Excelsior degrees right?

Yes, according to Excelsior(actually, my academic advisor) "College Writing" will satisfy the written English requirement at Excelsior.
