The new external LLM from UOL looks interesting.

For those considering doing a foreign LLB (as opposed to a non-ABA JD) and then trying to qualify for the Bar exam(s), would this LLM be of any value I wonder.

I have not done any extensive research, but it looks like most of the LLB courses can be taken in the LLM program?

The London LL.M. program has just been completely overhauled. I agree that it looks interesting; I am considering switching over myself. I like the fact that it can be done in bite sized pieces. But it is a LOT more expensive than the old program!

The degree will not qualify anyone to sit for any U.S. Bar exam nor is it a qualified law degree for the English Bar or Law Society.

Thanks. What kind of legal work do you do as an attorney?
And your reason for doing your LLM?

Right now I am a Trial Court Staff Attorney, kind of a cross between a law clerk and legal advisor to the Court.

I am asking myself that question...I think I was nuts to take it on since the degree will likely have no effect on my career but then I start reading and get taken up in the work.

Whatever brought me to it and whether I succeed or not, I have learned an awful lot so far! And that's what education really is about, right?

    Nosborne,

How do you study for it? I understand the UOL external system is almost DIY (Do It Yourself). Also, is it true that if you flunk one exam or subject, you're out of the program?

    I admire your fortitude!

    Well, I haven't succeeded yet, have I?

The old course was DIY but the new program is supposed to be more supportive. They are probably trying to compete with the growing competition in D/L.
