My wife's interested in screenplays but so far has only seen one program remotely similiar (creative writing) but she is interested in screenplay programs.

    Thanks for any input.

Screen writing is probably going to be a specialty field of creative writing.

There is a low residency MFA at U. New Orleans and Spalding with screenwriting emphasis. I think UNO requires some foreign travel.

Some programs with a specialty in creative fiction might consider screenwriting an acceptable format.

Since screenwriting is an art form -- she may be as well served in a program such as film studies or in a general theater program (theater is hard to find by DL). She might also be as well served in a general creative writing MA or MFA.

I know a sci-fi writer that says he truly values his decision to get his grad degree physics instead of writing. He claims he learned to write by writing but the science knowledge really benefits his work. Just a thought.

Academy of Art University offers an AA and BFA in directing, screenwriting, production, cinematograpy, etc. I don't think they're RA but have accreditation and are able to process federal financial aid.

They also offer a wholly online MFA in Motion Picture and Television production. The MFA rates seem high, though, at 650 per credit for 63 credits.

Still, this is good for anyone looking for an online program like this. I looked at Miami International University and University of Miami (local to me) and their tuition was about the same.
