Any reviews on student loan consolidation companies?

Rates are going up soon and I am able to lock in a rate while I'm still in school. I am getting a lot of mail from different places but don't know who's good or not.

I went directly throught the U.S. Dept. of Education for my consolidation loan. I cut my monthly payments in half and the interest rate went from 8 to just over 4 percent.

 

What is the current rate and is this a fixed rate for the term of the loan? My wife was bascially raped by DeVry to the tune of $26K (wow!) and she needs to consolidate her 5 loans into one. Is consolidating with the Feds better than with a private company? I tried to get a loan rate from BofA but got the typical runaround.

They're all the same in terms of interest rates (basically), but I used Southwest Student Services Corporation, and have been thrilled with them for years. From deferments to consolodations, they've been quick and accurate.

I have used both the the ones below and both have been very good. Great customer service, easy to use, and no problems to report. I think the interest rate is going up to 5.2% on July 1.
