I almost can't believe it myself, but I'm noodling on applying to take a DBA or perhaps a PhD at this UK school.

Any ideas about this? I've tried searching 'deja.com' but can't see much of relevance to this query.

    With thanks

    The University of Bradford ( www.brad.ac.uk )
meets GAAP, was founded in 1957, and offers the M.Phil. and Ph.D. via DL. It looks like they require a two week residency per year.

...and 4 weeks for the DBA

(or did I mix that up?)

When I enquired them for a brochure, I received their Catalogue in which I noticed that tuition fees for international students (From a country non member of the ECU) were about 3 to 4 times more than local students. If you are an international student you probably end paying more than Nova or Capella if you take in to consideration the trips.

Oops - blank reply sent .....

Despite appearing close to the bottom of UK university league tables, Bradford has a highly-regarded Business School.

Good luck ... although Bradford is in the headlines for the wrong reasons at the moment ...

Bradford has a good student union - I remember enjoying "Waiting for Godot" there over 30 years ago !

    Cheers,

There are two local professors in Canada who have the same unusual sequence of degrees:

    MA California American University
PhD University of Bradford (possibly the mill "Bradford University")

The real University of Bradford has a PhD with a two week residency per year. Is this particular "short residency" PhD in Business Administration at par with regular "long residency" PhD Business Administration programs ?

There are regionally accredited American schools that have PhD programs without residency. Considering that British system schools don't require coursework for the PhD, the length of their residency doesn't seem to be that big a deal.

Yes I know there are USA schools without residency requirements for their PhD degree in Business. My question is about quality and reputation. In the job market, and among Business profs and PhD/DBA gradutes, are these "zero residency" or "short residency" degrees considered as good as, and as prestigious as, PhD/DBA degrees from schools which require long residencies ?

I'm particularly interested in hearing about the quality and reputation of the Bradford business doctorate because it seems odd that these two instructors in Canada would look to Bradford to take a doctorate after taking questionable Bachelor's degrees in the USA. Maybe Bradford has a reputation of not looking too closely at the qualifications of its applicants - ie anyone with the money can get in and the program itself is not taxing. Just a suspicion...

Oh, I see. For education there are short residency doctorates from Penn and Columbia, but for business, no, none I've ever heard of compares.
