It's been said that Title IV funding, e.g. student loans, is available for select foreign universities. I know that LSE is one of them from being directed to their Fees page by a friend. What other foreign universities are set up to participate in U.S. federal funding? ed.gov doesn't have a list, at least not one I could find. Does anyone have one?

    Thanks!

^^^Does that mean that we can get US federal aid for taking online or external programs from foreign universities with a FAFSA code? Or is it a school by school issue?

I have actually been researching this for the past several months as I am planning to do a distance learning MBA program from the UK. I have found out that the University of Leicester, University of Sunderland and Heriot-Watt University accept US federal aid, including stafford loans.

Information on the University of Leicester and University of Sunderland programs can be found at www.rdi-usa.com

I called Heriot-Watt's Miami, Florida US student coordination office and spoke to them this morning about federal aid. They were very helpful and are forwarding me the financial aid paperwork to fill out. The toll free number to their US coordination office is 1-877-622-3272.

    Hope this helps!

If I remember correctly, the rule is you must be seeking a degree, and be at least part-time. I think some schools consider online courses less than part-time, so check with your school's finicial aide people.

Remember that the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act, or SAFRA, has recently eliminated the FFELP program, and that you must get your federal student loans from the Direct Loan Program going forward. You can still get federal student loans without a cosigner, although they will no longer be made by a private lender. This has been instituted for foreign student and institutions alike, hope this helps, regards.
