In reading threads, noticed many participants listed City U. in Bellevue, WA. Researching their site today. Offers both online and trad'l distance however on quarter and not semester. Thought this would be tough with working only having 10 weeks to complete. However, Trad'l Distance possibly option here. Great if they allow a combination of the two? Website UNCLEAR on tuition/costs and programs available. Perhaps better alternative to the Fort Hays/Murray State option. Looks like they test online. Any alums out there? Other colleges to suggest? Information appreciated greatly!
(1) Admission to City U is admission to City U. When I was there, I did my studies by night school, and took my classes on the campuses at Bellevue, Mercer Island, Renton, Seattle, and Tacoma. Some of my buddies did their studies both B&M and DL. So it should be possible to do your DL program both online and paper. (2) Tuition info is here: www.cityu.edu/admissions/financial.aspx (3) Well, I'm here. And I've seen someone with their City Univerfsity A.S. degree.
I have an AS from City University of Bellevue, WA which I earned by taking in classroom college classes on military bases. I did not use any distance learning for mine so I can't comment on their distance learning programs. The website is very clear on what programs are available via distance learning so I really don't know what information you're having a hard time finding. Please clarify a bit and I'll try and help. There are many other programs out there that one can recommend if you provide a little info on what you're after.
City U. follow-up! Thank you. Phoned and tuition now $1165 per class- too high for me! Plan is to complete BA in Interdisciplinary/General Studies program that allows you to plan out concentration. Prefer semester system and program that does not use proctors for testing. Would like reputable, well-established program not just affordable. Will check out few that I found on Peterson's: U-Mass-Lowell-$750 per course Assumption College-$230 per credit Univ of No Carolina at Greensboro Otherwise, open to feedback!
You could also consider these: The Union Institute and University: http://www.tui.edu/prospective/babs/default.asp?strLink=Bb.1 Ohio University: http://www.ohiolearns.org/catalog/displaydegree.php?id=337 Tennessee Board of Regents Degree: http://www.tn.regentsdegrees.org/ or Charter Oak State College. You would have to check on their testing requirements as to whether you would need a proctor.
pjt You may want to check out Texas Tech University Extended Studies. They offer a bachelor of general studies and the price is right at $124 per semester credit hour. I was really surprised that this cost also covers out of state students but I believe that it has something to do with the fact that Texas Tech views the extended studies as "independent study". It may be worth a call to them to confirm the pricing and get details on the program. Good luck.
