The Calvin School of Apologetics and Theology (www.calvinschool.info) is an India-based that offers tuition-free master's and doctoral degrees in theology. They claim accreditation from the International Council for Accrediting Alternate and Theological Education. I know nothing about this accrediting agency, bit, in order for accreditation to be any good, the accreditation agency should be accredited bt either the United States Department of Education (www.ed.gov) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (www.chea.org). And that's all I got to say about that. 'Cause life is like a box of chocolates.

Too bad the search function is broken. There have been multiple threads about this. One of its owners was defending it here, in fact.

If I recall correctly, their accreditor seems to have been created by the same church group that started Calvin and Trinity (the same school seems to be operating under two different names). So the thing seems to be self-accredited.

Their syllabus was kind of laughable at one point, but after criticism here it suddenly got a lot meatier. If you think that they could have added that many new classes that quickly, believing in the miraculous should be a piece of cake.

They might be sincere, I don't know. (If it's tuition-free, they aren't in it for the money.) Calvin/Trinity might even be a useful source of non-credit courses for those without a degree objective. But my feeling is that the academic degrees that they award are probably close to worthless.

I'm not sure what relevance the US Dept. of Education or CHEA have to accreditors in India.

Why are there so many things wrong with this site all of a sudden? The search function doesn't work, no email notifications work, PM's aren't working, etc.

    Technology, "Bah, humbug!"

IMO the school is not credible.

Please understand that many schools which are credible offer degree programs by distance learning. You may wish to look at Jason Baker's site.

Some credible schools also are quite reasonable. The Unizul Doctor of Theology cost me under $2500 including all tuition and fees. Unizul is a public university in South Africa, and it , along with several other public SA schools, have the equivalency ( but possibly less utility) of regional accreditation in the USA.

Baker's site will introduce you to a variety of such programs in the US, Europe and elsewhere.

But I'd urge you not to consider Calvin School.
