Dear DegreeInfo participants, I have completed the online MBA degree from Aspen University that I had set out for in January 2004. It has been a really enlightening experience and I wish I had found out about distance education opportuities sooner! A big thanks to Uncle Janko for his utmost support throughout my masters education. Special thanks to Tom Nixon for directing me to Aspen University, and to Mary Adams for helping me throughout the application process. Most of all, I would like to thank all participants and administrators on this forum who make DegreeInfo the kind of place it is for people to seek guidance regarding their education enhancement. What's next for me? Well, I have been inspired to seek a career in accounting and am now pursuing an accounting designation! I will keep you posted of my progress... Regards, Mahmood S Qasmi BEng, MASc, MBA
Congratulations! I always like this time of year, in part because of all the graduation success stories we see here.
Oustanding accomplishment! You should be very proud. No easy task to complete any degree program online. It takes an iron will dedication and laser beam focus. Be sure to be an active member of your school's alumni association.
Hey Mahmood - Congratulations! I never doubted for a moment that you would be successful. There are a few folks that when you talk to them duing the application process you just know they have what it takes to be successful in distance learning and you certainly fit that bill. Another such person is Paul C who posts here also. I can recall asking him early on if he would share his decision path to ISIM because I thought it would be a great tool to help others to decide if DL was right for them - and that was back in the early 90s! Way to go, Mary
Accounting Congratulations on earning your MBA degree! You had mentioned that you are currently pursuing an accounting designation; which one? I just earned my CA designation in Feb. 2005 (Manitoba institute). Best of luck in your accounting career! Accounting has been a very rewarding career choice for me. Please let me know if you need any further information on accounting education and career advice. Take care, Michael Weedon, CA
Congratulations, Mahmood! I have enjoyed reading your posts over the past year. Best wishes in your next endeavor. Mary
I keep looking at Aspen. It is good to hear from a recent graduate. How much of a hassle was arranging and taking the proctored end of course exam? Was there a certain window after course completion in which you were required to take the exam? Did you use online or "independent online"? --Dan M.
Hi, Nice to hear from you, and many thanks to all who participated on the thread Dan, I had to arrange my proctored exam at a local university... The cost really depends on the person you choose as your proctor. Mine cost me $50 for 4 hours. I wroe the exam upon completion of my 11 courses right before I started the Capstone project. I took all courses interactively (online interactive option was one of the reasons why I went for Aspen over CSU or AJU) Hope this helps... Mahmood
