    Hi Everyone,

I am a teacher, with a business degree, hoping to move into the "corporate" world. I have a BS in business management; however, it seems to me that more than management, HR is the field to be in. I am really having a tough time making a transition from teaching!

Does anyone have any idea, roughly, how many more classes one would need to obtain an HR BS, with the BSB/M? I am trying to see if it is something I may need to pursue.

    Thanks,

    AJ

I see a few options for you instead of pursuing another BS

    How about

    1) A certificate program in HR (eCornell.com has an HR certificate from Cornell University - although its not an academic certificate)

    2) A master's in HR (similiar to the one at Nova Southeastern but other schools have them)

    3) Or a MBA with a concentration in HR

HR is a good field to get into. My wife works in HR and is pursuing the master's in HR at Nova and she enjoys the program (online).

    Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I may also include that I am pursuing a MEd. in Educational Leadership at Walden U. I am half way through the program so I think I might as well finish it at this time. Bad time to think of a career change!

I may look at eCornell. I am not sure that I am prepared to start another Master's program.

Thanks for the info. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

By the way, how does the industry looks at certificates, such as the one from eCornell?

    Thanks,

    AJ

I'm not sure how the industry looks at certificates but I do know they highly regard certification.

Look at www.hrci.org for info. on certification.

I looked at monster.com and most of the jobs for HR required some sort of experience and one of these certifications.

Or maybe you should just go into corporate training.

Actually I tried that . Not too many openings. The degree and the experience are a good combination, plus the fact that I am taking MEd in Educational Leadership. I guess training may not be too much in demand right now.

    Good suggestion though.
