I have been reading the last few days' posts on both aed and degreeinfo with some interest. I have to admit that I was very surprised by the disclosure of the attempt on the part of some of the regular posters to attempt to flush out the scammers, spammers, and shills for "legal and ethical" schools that have invaded aed in order to prey upon the unsuspecting. I have been surprised by some of the negative repsonses about this attempt that many others have made.

Therefore, I would like to take the time to thank Chip, Peter French and everyone else who was involved in that attempt. It was a valiant effort, and, I think, well-meant. However, since aed is still unmoderated, and will remain so, there will still be enough chances for those who disagree with Factwatcher (he/she/it of many aliases)and his/her/its band of con artists to do battle with them in the newsgroup.

I take this to heart because when I first found this NG almost a year ago, I had a vague idea to finish my education so that I could teach school after I retire from my present position. I had heard of some of the "state approved" schools and had sent off to some of them. When I first accessed aed, it was a revelation as to what distance educational opportunities existed other than the quick and easy way to a degree, the "too good to be true" way that will bite you in the rear end when you take your degree and try and get a job with it.

I am greatly appreciative of the knowledgable posters who were helpful to a clueless forty-something newbie; having been so close to being one of the victims of a diploma mill, being the possessor of a pretty piece of parchment that would be about as useful as a bull with tits, I am relieved to knnow that it appears that I am on the right track.

So I am off for a vacation, and then when I return, I hope to start getting all of my paperwork together for TESC. I just wanted to extend a thank you to everyone involved in that ill-fated attempt to draw out FW & Company and wish you all continued success and disaster to Factwatcher and his friends.

But Scott, look at all the fun you will miss by not being able to show the parchment to friends, family and loved ones. They would have been so proud of you! [IMG]

Good choice, man! You did the right thing.

    Scott,

Thanks for your kind words. Helping people find the options to make the decisions that are best for them, and spreading the word about the less-than-scrupulous operators out there is what this forum is all about.

Best of luck at TESC... and keep us informed of your progress.

    Have a great vacation!!

    Chip
