New to this board, please be patient. Is there a list of distance ed Courses on this BB? I am in the process of searching for some gen eds for my degree and spending a great deal of time trying to find schools offering distance courses. Found two which have some courses but still looking for others. University of Idaho and Adams State. I am most interested in independent study as these courses allow up to 1 year to complete. Thank you in advance for ANY information. Opal
There's no comprehensive list. Here are a few that I know of who have reasonable tuition rates for both in-state and out-of-state: University of Indiana - Bloomington LSU Mountain State (WV) University of Oklahoma University of Northern Iowa BYU
Thanks so much. I also found Clackamas Community College has the very least expensive courses most are $215 per course! Didn't see any graduate courses but very reasonable undergrad. Thanks I will check these out as well. Opal
I tend to lean toward LSU, BYU, and U Oklahoma. I've noticed though that a couple UTexas campuses (Austin and San Marcos), Eastern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma State-Stillwater, Triton College, U Arkansas-Fayetteville, U Nevada-Reno, U North Dakota, U Oklahoma, U South Carolina, U Southern Colorado, and U Wyoming each have good selections and very reasonable prices. Good luck....
Hi Opal - It's a bit difficult to know what to suggest as you haven't clearly said if you are interested in any particular areas of study or what level of courses you want listed. In any case, you can try wading through this listing of DL degree programs: http://www.freewebs.com/dlasap Good luck, Jack
The DANTES lists are pretty useful... http://www.dantescatalogs.com/DISC/DISCNav.asp http://www.dantescatalogs.com/DEDC/DEDCNav.asp
If you're just looking to knock out some general education requirements you might want to consider taking the appropriate CLEP exams. They are about $80 per exam and count for 6 credits each ( for subject exams). Make sure you check with the school you're earning your degree from to see how much CLEP credit they will grant and which exams they will accept. Some school are very liberal with the amount of CLEP exams they will accept.
