I am curious as to how one would conduct the research for a 100% DL M.S. thesis for a hard-science or engineering discipline . Does anybody have any experience or insight into this? I can understand how it would be possible in "soft science" or liberal arts fields, but without access to, say, a well-equipped scientific laboratory or hard-core engineering lab, how do students do this? I know it's been accomplished, because there are plenty of people here that have indicated they have a research-based M.S. done completely by DL in scientific and engineering fields. Thanks! -Jassen
Someone who's actually done it would be a better person to respond to this; however, just off the top of my head, petitioning a local, state-run college/university for the use of a lab during times when said college/university's own students aren't using it, and then paying a small lab fee for the privilege of doing so, might work. At least that's what I'd try to arrange... but that's just me. Just a thought.
One could do a computer simulation. Also, I think there still exists something called "theoretical physics".
