Aspen university - Bear's guide - confusion - mental trauma !!

I am planning to apply for Ms in computer Information Systems in Aspen University (DETC accredicted).
Today I picked Bear's guide to distance to distance learning , 2003 edition, I was shocked to see Aspen University in Diploma mill list!!....
Also there is a reference to ISIM univeristy (previously Aspen) in the list of accredicted universities... Whatz going on Mr. Bear? ????
I am in deep mental tension. After a lot of research and my precious time, I had almost decided on aspen and this has come as an unpleasent shock...

 

The present-day Aspen University which offers IS programs was living in the accredited section of Bears' Guide 15th edn. under the name ISIM University (formerly International School of Information Management). There was indeed a degree mill named Aspen University that offered the DUC from UCLA (Doctor of Universal Confusion from the Ulcer Club of Los Angeles). Two entirely different schools. Not to worry.

Still I am concerned , the bear's guide is giving a wrong impression on AU.
I only hope people dont read this book or particularly that page !!

Is it that Dr. Bear's guide gives the wrong impression or that Aspen might have better considered another name?

I'd imagine that if UCLA changed their name to Columbia Pacific they might run into some name confusion too...

I'm not familiar with the Aspen mill version but I'm sure that if Dr. Bear called them a mill -- they were indeed a mill and needed to be referred to as such.

 

Which UCLA?
The University of California at Los Angeles?
The Ulcer Club of Los Angeles?
The Upper Corner of Lower Alabama?

Reading carefully might help. So might cooling down. Not to mention standard spelling instead of trendy idiocies like "whatz". A-c-c-r-e-d-i-t-e-d schools tend to like that. Welcome aboard.
