Environmental Science Degrees Online

I am a fairly new online MS student in Env Science at the University of Idaho.

Since they're mostly a brick & mortar university, I find them to be lacking in their coordination and support for online programs. However, they're the only school I know of that offers this program. And they're well regarded in the world of regular old unversities in this field.

I am working on setting up a forum specifically for students at UI. But I wonder if any of you out there are studying environmental science or it ilk online from any other source?

Best of luck with your studies. I'm afraid I don't know of any forum that's accessible to the general public related to online or Distance Learning study of Environmental subjects.

However I can tell you that there's at least 900 students around the world studying environmental subjects at a distance through the University of London. Most are studying on programmes designed by Imperial College London, Wye Campus.

Most of these students, or at least those who choose to use the internet as part of the studies (programmes can be taken online, paper-based and mixed-mode), will probably use the chat rooms and forums provided within our VLE (however this is a closed forum). However if you do end up setting up a general forum then let me know. I'll see if I can pass on the details to our students - as after all, with a discussion forum the more users you have the better/greater the conversations.

When I was a tutor back in Seattle from 1996 to 2000, a fellow tutor of mine introduced me to a friend of his who was pursuing his PhD in Environmental Science at the Union Institute
(www.tui.edu). He had done previous studies, I believe, at Evergreen State College (www.evergreen.edu).

 

Hey! Degreeinfo has a discussion list for IT degrees. Why not one for Environmental Studies degrees? I think Chip would know how to set up a new discussion list within this forum.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am continuing to work on the UI general group (probably on yahoo groups), but I am highly interested to know about other schools that offer environmental studies.
