Golden Gate University at Wyoming USA (www.ggu.edu) is now operating in Malaysia. Of late, quite a number of Malaysians had "graduated" with MBAs and PhDs from GGU. My question is -- whether this a real university or just a diploma mill selling degrees.:D

Golden Gate University is in San Francisco, CA. It's not in Wyoming and it's a regionally accredited university.

Yes, it is regionally accredited and has been around for a hundred years. It s definitely legitimate and has a good reputation as a "feeder" of highly-skilled employees among corporations in the Bay Area. It has a Carnegie Classification of 'specialized, business school'. It offers both on-campus and distance learning programs: it has a highly-acclaimed Cybercampus and its taxation programs are among the best and largest in the nation. While it offered PhD programs in the past, during its reoganization some years ago, the university streamlined its programs and decided to offer only one doctoral-level program: the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

Wokay!! But is there a GGU campus at Wyoming? According to the Malaysian agent, it represent GGU based at Wyoming! Maybe it is just a SCAM JOB representing GGU???

Uhh, ya think? If they are saying they represent Golden Gate in Wyoming, I would RUN, not walk, the other way.

BTW, I plan to get my Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications from Golden Gate University after I get my BA.

    Golden STATE University

A quick search I did didn't yield a website for the school, but I found Golden State listed among universities whose degrees are invalid in Oregon on the Oregon Office of Degree Authorization website (www.osac.state.or.us).

As TCord1964 said, run and run away from them. Definitely a mill. All these degree mill/scam has penetrated S.E. Asia. Golden State, Preston, American University of Hawaii, etc.

I'm from Singapore so I know. I saw these mills advertise in the papers. They claim to be approved by the State authority to deceive S.E. Asians who don't know any better.

According to their Web site (Golden State's - NOT Golden Gate's)...

    "Registration & Accreditation

Golden State University is incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, a crown colony of the UK, and is a member of the British Commonwealth.

Golden State University is legally enabled to confer Associate, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees on all students who have met the graduation requirements of the university.

The University is not listed with any accreditation association or agency recognized by the United States Department of Education."

    RUN!!!

Interesting how their website itself says that they're not recorgnized by any US accrediting body. Perhaps they want to give the impression that they're not trying to fool anyone since they've put that out in the open, or they probably want to be treated like the typical legitimate foreign university which does not need US recognition as long as the appropriate local government authority approves them...
