World Information distributed university(WIDU)

Hi all,
Can someone explain what is WIDU(world information distributed university) and how if an institution is accredited by them? the website is www.bridgeworld.org

Looks now Westcoast university www.westcoastuniversity-edu.com have some new form of accreditation. any comment?

Second on the list of Things That Accredit WCU is "International Education Ministry Accreditations Association (IEMAA)-USA" with URL http://www.interfaithedu.org. That's a Saint Regis group thing. (I realize you're most interested in hearing about the weird http://www.bridgeworld.org/ organization.)

They seem to have invented a new post-Ph.D. degree called 'Grand-Ph.D.' and apparently are awarding them on their own authority. I have no idea whether that's legal in Belgium or wherever they say they are.

"The need in solving of global problems will increase inasmuch as the information society develops progressively. It inevitably demands training of experts of the appropriate level. Herewith it is proposed to introduce more high scientific degree of GRAND DOCTOR of PHILOSOPHY (Grand Ph.D.) compared to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

Grand Ph.D. degree is introduced for the first time. Grand Ph.D. thesis involvesextensive, in-depth research and original approach to the solution of global problems that have of supreme importance for the world community. The degree of Grand Ph.D. may be awarded to Doctor of Philosophy who has more than one hundred scientific articles, three or more monographs and who took part in training of 10-20 Doctors of Philosophy."

The Grand Master has also created an Order:

"The World Order of SCIENCE, EDUCATION, CULTURE unites the prominent figures of the world in order to create an information society in the best interests of the individual, the family and self-governing communities.

The aims of the World Order are: to attract prominent scholars, public figures and members of the business community to scientific, educational and cultural activity; to create a unified information space; to strengthen informal links between prominent figures of the world.

This new organisation is an independent department of European Academy of Informatization, a non-profit international institution registered in Belgium by a Royal Decree (19/09/99) with the number 13544/2000."

I find it ironic (or on second thought, maybe not) that somebody who grew up in one of the Marxist people's paradises is so fixated on hierarchies and on drawing levels of distinction.

 

So any idea what is their positioning?or is it recognised by the Belgium government or its department of education?

It is quite weird and I wonder how many universities are the participants.

I commented on this one before. It has a distinct feel of ex-Soviet pseudoscience: legitimaly credentialed people looking for an artificial ego boost (and maybe selling it to someone gullible enough).

 

Re: The New World Order

Post-PhDs and Grand-PhDs? Why do we not just stick with the Chancellor of Philosophy (ChP?) degrees that Dr. Bear writes in his book of having been so much bandied about in articles in the _Chronicle of Higher Education_?

or create a more rigourous degree called "Lord of Knowledge"
