Hypnosis doctorate -honor system

The Hypnosis Institute of Texas is offering a Doctor of Clinical Hypnosis degree as a "nontraditional entitlement Program" Dr. Mike notes on his website at

that " Clients many times base their choices of professionals by the letters at the end of their name. They continue to be influenced by these letters rather than the amount of training or time in practice." So he offers a D.C.H program.
The requirements are:
"200 hrs of training (we do not check – the honor system prevails)or
have completed the Hypnosis Institute of Texas certification training program.
Classroom or distance learning.
Includes seminars and/or convention workshops(attended or given)
A minimum of 1 year in a hypnosis practice
A video of a hypnosis session; And a taped record describing one of your best outcomes and one of a problematic session, and how you turned it around. $495 enrollment fee.
He received his DCH degree from the American Institute of Hypnosis and notes " when I began the DCH program it was priced at more than $3,000 and required reading of more than 65 books and written exams. It took me 18 months to complete. All theory and no practical evidence needed to show that I had learned more. Just more reading and test taking to substantiate the tuition. So this new degree is, he says, competency -based.
To his credit he does state that a DCH is not a PH.D and that
DCH programs are not sanctioned, accredited nor designed to meet any specific local, state, national or international licensing and/or credentialing laws.
Don't know where they get the authority to issue degrees. It's nice that they use the honor system! Anybody know anything about this?

I believe that you want to do this program. Yes, I can tell by your post that it's something you truly want. And that's OK. Yes it is.
