Hi. does anyone know of a university that offers degrees in Japanese Language and Society or the like, purely by DL? I only know of the University if Sheffield, though. adelheid
Macquarie University has MA and PhD in Japanese Studies by DL -- e.g. see http://www.asianlang.mq.edu.au/japanese/post030.htm
I would suggest you look at the Bachelors programs offered by Mary Baldwin College (I think it's an all female school) and the University of Southern Queensland. Also, the Curtin University of Technology has a well developed Asian Studies department but I'm not certain that all coursework is available through DL. Good luck. Jack
It's not the full degree program that Adelheid is looking for, but Mesa Community College in Arizona (one of those Maricopa schools) offers online Japanese language courses. http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/~emiahn/internethome.htm
Not necessarily all-female, Jack. According to my Peterson's Guide to Graduate Schools, 2003 edition, Mary Baldwin College has 26 full-time matriculates graduate and professional students (20 women) and 37 part-time matriculatws graduate and professonal students (32 women). Absent any info to the contrary, I'm assuming that the other six full-timers and five part-timers must be male humanoids. - Ted.
Get credit here from the University of Alabama You can take these courses and get college credit from Alabama real cheap (I think $325 per course).
Yes, you're quite possibly correct. I would suggest that potential male applicants make inquiries before walking away. Also, I would suggest that adelheid go to John Ryan's Arts and Sciences Away Page for a list of eight universities (some already mentioned) that offer Asian Studies programs.
