For those who read or contributed to the thread by this title, the content has been deleted by the moderators because the poster has repeatedly violated our terms of service.

The general subject matter of the post was the poster's dissatisfaction with the content and moderation of degreeinfo. While the content itself is not objectionable, the abusive language and tone, along with the personal attacks against several degreeinfo regulars is a clear violation of our terms of service, and a violation of the community spirit we've sought to engender.

Therefore, the post has been deleted. Additionally, since the poster has repeatedly violated our terms of service despite requests to tone down his posts, we've also regretfully found it necessary to suspend his posting privileges.

Unfortunately, due to limitations in the BBS software, deletion of the primary post results in deletion of the replies to it.

We regret that this action was necessary, however we believe that, under the circumstances, it was justified.

My apologies to those who posted thoughful responses to the thread. This is a very rare occurrence on degreeinfo, but one that we believe is appropriate in our efforts to keep this forum as a comfortable place for participants to discuss issues without fear of flaming or personal attacks.

No problem, Chip, I keep a copy of my posts since first experiencing an apparently inadvertent deletion on this board. You will be happy to see I've reconstituted my contribution to this thread in full and in context, and have posted it here.

Yes, well, we might be able to take this a bit more seriously had YOU not, only yesterday, written to Peter saying:

    From: Bruce Tait <[email protected]>
    Date: Fri, 06 Jul 2001 18:06:06 -0400
Bruce Tait wrote in part to Peter French:

"I also invite you sir, to blow it out your ass. Go bang a koala."

Followed by public accusations by Chip that he (Peter) is guilty of conspiracy to commit fraud.

In reply to a query from another poster who wrote -

    > Interesting, I thought that Mr. French was >just a customer. I didn't realize
    > he'd graduated to swindler!

"To be fair, I'm not sure that Peter is actually *operating* the fraud... I think he
may have been setting it up for one of his less-than-wonderful consulting clients."

Now that is abusive. While I have many disagreements with Peter (in the US, RA is indeed King), there is no doubt that he and others
who have strayed from the party line, have been systematically hounded and ridiculed. Degreeinfo.com administrative admonitions
would carry more weight were its moderators to practice what they preach outside, as well as inside, the confines of this board.

Putting aside your ad hominem personal attack on me, indeed it is true that the eye sees not itself but by reflection. You are saying that because there was no rule in that forum (or more exactly no enforcement of the rule) preventing the disgusting and abusive remark
directed at Peter, that it was OK for you to so malign another contributor?

Again, consider that your position as moderator will be strengthened if you refrain from employing the tactics and language of the yob, either here, or in Usenet.

The moderators have elected to re-open this thread. Please play nice and keep in mind that all posts need to conform to the Terms Of Service agreement. The brief version of TOS strictly forbids personal attacks.

    Thanks for your continued support.

Lawrie, I think that both Bruce and I share your thoughts. Bruce has offered an apology for his comment on another thread, and I offer mine as well. I will work to be more reasoned and thoughtful with my posts.
