location, location, location COSC has the distinct advantage of being located in Connecticut, easily the greatest state in the union.
Re: location, location, location I found COSC to be the most responsive and the easiest to deal with.
I think i remember someone on this fourm saying something to the effect of (For example): If you took and passed Dsst Business law II before you you took and passed Clep Business law that they would not accept the clep. I guess what I need to find out are the quirks of COSC ..... Anyone?
Re: Re: location, location, location I agree. I will be transferring over to COSC in a couple of months. I have noticed any time I e-mail them a question, they respond almost instantly! Take care, Abner
Anything other than Charter Oak is madness COSC is almost absurdly responsive and helpful, and that's my experience with every single department of theirs. I very highly recommend them based on my experience with them. They will bend over backwards to help you. When it comes to service, they put everyone else to shame. -=Steve=-
I have literally spent months trying to decide between COSC, TESC or Fort Hays. My interest is in obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. The thing is, TESC is the only one that offers a BA in Journalism. COSC offers a "concentration" in communications, while Fort Hays offers an "emphasis" in Mass Communications and Journalism. The kind of jobs I will be seeking with the degree require a BA or BS in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field. Would any of these degrees serve my purpose, or should I just take the plunge and go with TESC, which offers an actual BA in Journalism? I really like the things I have been reading about COSC. They also have great prices, and a reasonable application fee. If I knew the whole "concentration" thing wouldn't trip me up, I would actually lean toward COSC.
That is a tough call. Would all the classes you take be the same for either program? If in doubt, I would go with (bite my tongue) TESC. Could you contact someone in HR where you want to work and ask if it makes a difference? If no difference...COSC ALL THE WAY!

Re: Anything other than Charter Oak is madness Although I am pursuing a degree with COSC, I'm not so sure about them "bending over backwards to help you." I am still trying to figure out what my academic councelor's job really is???
the part that states "COSC do letter grade some exams, but not ECE/Regents or CBT CLEP. Yes, the grades will be used in calculating GPA for the purposes of awarding honors, but no GPA will appear on the transcript (we knew that - but it wont stop graduate schools calculating GPA). " is not true. My transcript shows my GPA
Re: Re: Anything other than Charter Oak is madness I had Karen Collies and anytime I needed advice or answers I got them right away. The only thing is that they don't decide what you should take for you, they support you deciding for yourself. But that's what I preferred anyway. -=Steve=-
They are all good schools The only advice I would recommend about TESC is...be prepared to deal with massive incompetence and apathy from their student support employees. I loved the Professors and the classes, but the VA representative, advisers, registrar, graduation department, etc were horrible. They were some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in any field. On the good side, it forced me to suck it up, and find a way to meet my goal in spite of them. If you need the Degree (Journalism), like I did (Real Estate), then go with TESC, otherwise, look at COSC or EC, great schools with much better student support.
