I hope someone can help me - or at least give some advise.

Overall, I am trying to understand what my current educational level is equivalent to here in the US.

My graduation certificate states: Baccalaureate (Danish educational background, mathematical)

While staying in the US, I have been advised by a student counselor that this equals to an associates degree. But when I sent in the certificate to be evaluated, it came back as highschool.

Are there perhaps several "levels" of a Baccalaureate? I just want to do some legwork, so that I do not have to take "unnessecary" courses once I go back to school.

    Thank you

The word is used in different ways in different countries. In some places it is equivelent to high school and in others it adds a year or two beyond what a US high school does. (It may even be different for different subject matters). It just has to be evaluated based on the actual content rather than the title. Who did the "official" evaluation for you?

I don't mean to add to the confusion, but in some regions of the US a "Baccalaureate" is a reception to honor those graduating, often associated with high school, and not uncommon with four year degrees.

It appears the "bachelorgrad" is awarded as the equivalent to the bachelor's degree.

Often a religious service. Also to further complicate things there is the International Baccalaureate which is a rigorous high school program. It is a high school curriculum but there are colleges which will give advanced standing or even credit to IB grads.
