Does Australia have an own professional accreditation for MBA programs, such as AACSB in the US and AMBA in the UK?
Are there Australian MBA programs that are AACSB accredited?

    Thank you,

    Dennis

I do not think Australia has any organisations that accredit business programs, or at least significant ones. I could be wrong though(there is accreditation for accounting, etc)

There are 3 AACSB accredited institutions, the University of Queensland, The University of Sydney and the Australian Graduate School of Management (a joint venture between the University of Syndey and the University of New South Wales).

For the other two "big" business accreditations...

EQUIS accredits Curtin University of Technology, the University of South Australia and the University of Queensland.

AMBA accredits the Queensland University of Technology and Curtin University of Technology.

(I may have missed a few - but others are applying for accreditation)

Australian Master's degrees are accredited by the government and their evaluation agencies (pretty much like the universities in old continental Europe). There is thus no need at all for additional further accreditation. The only reason why some schools (see above) do so despite is Marketing, and competition for outside AUS. Inside AUS, all degrees are considered equal - here the rankings of the universities themselves decide, not some form of additional accreditation.

While all university degrees are accredited (actually be the university itself, but only through powers granted by the government), that doesn't mean it is the only form of accreditation. Professional accreditation does exist for engineering, accounting and medicine, among others. It does count when it comes to membership of professional bodies, which may be important in some fields.

    yep, true.
but I was just talking about business degrees since the original thread starter asked specifically about
    MBA degrees and their accreditation.
