IEEE EAB Seeks Industry Professionals To Serve As Program Evaluators For Accreditation Activities

The IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) seeks professionals in industry, government and academic sectors to serve as program evaluators for the following ABET accredited programs at U.S. colleges:

    · Computer Engineering and Computer Engineering Technology
    · Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology
    · Electromechanical Engineering Technology
    · Information Engineering Technology
Accreditation plays an important role in the improvement of the quality of engineering education. Part of a team who visit campuses and provide recommended accreditation actions to ABET, program evaluators play an essential role in the accreditation process. Service as a program evaluator gives members of the profession an opportunity to contribute to the achievement of high quality educational standards of engineering and engineering technology programs.

Applications for the 2005-2006 academic year are due by 15 Nov. They will be reviewed during the January / February IEEE meetings. Notification will be sent to applicants by 1 March.
Applicants need to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S..

ABET is a federation of 31 engineering, professional and technical societies and is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit programs in engineering, engineering technology, computing science, and applied science programs within the United States. The IEEE is the largest of ABET's societies. The Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET accredits engineering programs, and the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of ABET accredits engineering technology programs. IEEE is responsible for approximately 709 engineering and engineering technology programs through ABET.
