I know American Global University is not an RA school but it is approved by the state of Wyoming. Does anyone know anything about American Global University?

Being approved by the state of Wyoming is like being approved by your Cousin Phil. True, but academically insignificant.

BG14 reports they were once listed in Iowa, and continue to be listed in Hawaii, but operate from California. (I guess they missed South Dakota. [IMG] )

BG14 also cites their accreditation by WAUC, but the website lists no accreditation (quite emphatically, I might add).

Their website also contains the following caution:

PLEASE NOTE: UNSCRUPULOUS INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, INCLUDING IN INDONESIA, HAVE CLAIMED AFFILIATION WITH AMERICAN GLOBAL UNIVERSITY AND ATTEMPTED TO SELL HONORARY DEGREES.

THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH AMERICAN GLOBAL UNIVERSITY AND AMERICAN GLOBAL UNIVERSITY HAS NEVER SOLD AND WILL NEVER SELL A DEGREE.

Those pesky Indonesians! I guess they never thought of selling Harvard or Yale degrees.

  3. See http://distancelearn.about.com/library/weekly/aa101199.htm for an article about them, including a photo of their November 1999 address. The Des Moines Register investigated AGU, and elicited from owner S.A. Samadani that he "wasn't sure" how many students were enrolled or whether AGU had ever awarded a degree.

Sometime after that AGU moved to Wyoming.
