    Hi all,

I usually just read the messages and rarely post any, but I need advice on a school.

The school is American Intercontinental University (AIU). They are RA and I am intrested in their MBA program. Has anyone ever taken classes or graduated from AIU?

Other than the name, I like their program. I am not the best in math / accounting and it looks like I can do their program.

If this school does not have a good reputation, I may consider a NA school. My goal with the MBA is to give me a little edge in advancing my career.

    Thanks.

    Joe

I don't know very much about the actual instruction at this school, but I have requested information in the past about their Masters in IT Management. My concern with what little I've seen is that the elapsed times to complete the degrees seem very short (10 months) and they have sent many, many aggressive email messages about price increases, etc.

    AIU Online: Proceed With Caution!

I am a graduate of AIU -- but I attended one of their brick & mortar campuses, where there is much personal interaction and hands-on help.

I also considered AIU Online for graduate studies. However, the online university is a completely different animal!

AIU is owned by Career Education Corporation (CEC), a publicly traded, for profit corporation that was recently targeted on 60-Minutes for their aggressive admissions tactics. Apparently their biggest focus is to sign up as many students as possible in order to access financial aid monies, and former admissions reps complained about high pressure to enroll students regardless of their suitability for the program.

The school promises high-level training and job placement, but it rarely delivers either. In fact, so many student complaints were filed that the Illinois board of Higher Education held special meetings with AIU Online execs, warning them to cease these tactics.

To put it simply: AIU Online would not be my number one choice.

I cannot comment on their educational quality, but I sent them a request for information about 4 years ago concerning earning a bachelor's online, and they contact me about once a week via e-mail....

I have told them numerous times that I am already enrolled in a program and not interested, and I actually called up the enrollment rep and told her to back off. She said "don't be calling me and yelling at me" so I spoke to her supervisor, I still get the e-mails and calls...

Either way, just a personal experience, I wasn't impressed at all

If you search for threads concerning AIU you'll get a good feeling for everyones' opinion of them. Like a lot of people my opinion of them is not very high. Good luck in your search.
