I am going to need to use SPSS for a DL course. The trouble is that I have not used SPSS in greater than 15 years. Any idea about some good primers instead of taking a course to learn how to use this program for what is really basic statistics (linear regression, descriptive, inferential, Pareto etc)?

This is a course for the health science program at TUI. Any info will be appreciated. I have access to B & Noble and Books..million.

Here's a good book I recently used that got me through SPSS. You can get it at all the big online booksellers, or probably for free at a local library:

Title: SPSS in practice : an illustrated guide
    Author: Puri, Basant K.

Stunning, thanks Edowave. I was going to post the same question fairly soon. Just downloaded SPSS Version 13 to get crunching.

    Cheers,

    George

Personally though, I prefer NCSS. The documentation that comes with the program is very good. It is also a lot cheaper than SPSS. I got a student copy for $50. The developer also offered it for $25 a copy if I got 5 people together.

You can download a trial at http://www.ncss.com/.
