I seem to remember someone on this board mentioned that Excelsior gives certificates for certain amount of concentration credit to enrolled students, just to keep them motivated. Did I dreamt this up?

My wife just received her "preliminary initial" evaluation yesterday, got 106.25 credits. If a few requirement hurdles will clear (i. e., they will accept her two-semester accounting course as Intro Acc. I&II, huge Higher Maths course as satisfying maths requirement, and Management Strategy as Business Policy req), and I see no reason why not, she could be very close to her degree. Couple more courses she's already enrolled in, one of those foreign language exams worth a lot of credit - she could be done in a few months. But I think she really needs some motivation and a little reward for all the hard work she put in.

What I did for motivation was to put together a spreadsheet outlining credits and test dates and change each color as I took a test from gray (scheduled) to yellow (taken test) to green (received "A" grade). As I started from zero, it took a while for the # of credits to grow to 1/2 way but once I got started the visual feedback was encouraging.

If your wife has only about 25 credits to go (which would include the Information Literacy 1-credit course) maybe some sort of similar approach would work - I did it on a spreadsheet but you could also do it on a wall chart, etc.

    Good luck!

    Cheers,
