Does anyone have any information on this thingy I pulled off a website claiming a Master Diploma in Information Systems? Is this as sketchy as it looks? "Academic Honors World Academy of Letters J. M. Evans, Chancellor 5126 Bur Oak Circle PO Box 31226 Raleigh, North Carolina, USA "The 2005 Manifesto of the World Academy of Letters emphasizes strongly that the Academy will function as an informal 'world university' at the highest traditional and ethical level, in which human understanding and the fullest sense of responsibility toward the pursuit of professionalism will meet." - J.M. Evans Master Diploma in Information Systems, Honoris causa - 2005 Master Diploma in Information Technology, Honoris causa - 2005 " Anyone?
While I can't validate/invalidate the World Academy of Letters, I am wary of any type of "manifesto", particularly as it pertains to education.
I can only presume that an "informal 'world university'" bestows informal qualifications. In other words, it means nothing (except that it may say something not so good about the person who's doing the bragging). Jack
It appears that they do not limit themselves to awarding master diplomas. Given that I found 3 or 4 people who were "awarded" the Einsteinian Chair of Science" in 2004, I can only assume that it isn't actually an academic chair (it must get awfully crowded with concurrent holders). Perhaps the award is an actual, wooden, chair?
Tasteless! Please allow yet more tasteless humor from me; but, given the above... I'd rather be awarded the Stephen Hawking chair (power, voice synth, computer, wow.) (Yes, that was really bad! My apologies to all, er, sort of.)
