Which is the preferred wording in academic/professional education fields?

I see both all the time. Having taught in one such program, the terms were used interchangeably.

I'm starting to like neither less and less. I'm currently favoring "adult education model". Kinda long, but it does emphasize the wide varieties of this type of education. It's not just DL anymore .... *Besides* "distance" of phone, online, e-mail, snail-mail, it can include clusters, small groups, large events, learning experiences with local schools, etc.

It helps people to look a little more creatively at the learning process.
