What is the oppinion on Ashworth College?
I know they are DET, but I find it strange they offer Associates and Masters degrees and no Bachelors degree.
I like their pricing its 4900.00 for the Masters degree and that includes all books and materials.
Does anyone think that any RA school would allow it to transfer into a PHD or DBA program?

    Thanks

What is the opinion on Ashworth College?

I like it so far. It can be challenging at times and always and worth taking. I have never had any issues with anyone there but do feel that they take a bit of time grading your assignments.

I believe it will be up to the perspective University that you are applying to. There are many trends on this matter that can answer your questions. In my opinion I believe that they will. I would try some South African Universities or other PhD, DBA DETC accredited universities. But, I would just ask around and see.

From my understanding the school seems to be decent. A knock against them that I've heard from time to time is that there aren't enough General Ed core credits in their Associates degree. So, if attempting to transfer your credits into another school, particularly a RA school, you will likely have to take a few more core General Ed classes. (Incidentally, this would not be the case if you transferred to Bellevue - an RA school. Bellevue will accept your Ashworth Associates as meeting all General Ed requirements and admit you into the BA program.)

As far as an Ashworth Masters getting you into a PhD program...I'd be skeptical, but I'm not sure. I'd be VERY skeptical if all of your degrees were DETC and you were trying to get into a RA PhD program.

Ashworth's associates degrees are also fully acceptable to the regionally-accredited Southwestern College of Winfield, Kansas as requisite to any of its nine bachelors programs; however there may or may not be issues (probably aren't, but there's room for doubt) with the typical Ashworth associates degree meeting all of Southwestern's English comp and, possibly, math requirements... as I thoroughly over-explained in this posting.

    Indeed.

I don't think anyone has really answered renshi's question yet. The question was, would a masters from an NA school transfer into an RA institution for a DBA?

The option that comes to me off the top of my head is University of Phoenix. I believe they offer a DBA, and they do accept credits from NA programs in transfer. UoP is not cheap, but you will be saving a lot of money by getting a masters from Ashworth.

I'm not sure that it is important whether the credits from an MA or MBA at Ashworth transfer to a higher level program.

The issue is whether an RA institution would accept an Asworth MA or MBA as meeting the requirements for entrance into a higher level degree program.

There are always special circumstances under which some people are able to achieve unusual results. Generally however, an NA MA or MBA is not acceptable on it's own merit as meeting the requirements for entry into an RA PhD or DBA -- though it will meet the requirements for entrance into an NA PhD or MBA.

Where an applicant can make his package more interesting to an RA program is to add some RA graduate level work, some very high standardized test scores, some professional certifications, and some publication experience.

Not to sound trite, but renshi could always call the University of Phoenix and ask. :D

Well, I suppose you could wait and see if the DETC doctoral accreditation project includes any DBAs or DMs.

    Ted.
