At last Excelsior has posted details of their MBA on their website https://www.excelsior.edu/portal/page?_pageid=57,200533&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
A major advantage of the Excelsior MBA is that up to 42 of the required 48 units can be earned elsewhere. This might result in a lower overall cost.
Amberton Universities distance learning MBA costs $600 per course. Prospective students may transfer up to 12 courses towards the degree. Troy state University at Dothan offers an online MBA program that requires completion of only 10 courses. Students may transfer up to 4 granduate business courses. If you have a graduate degree, you will be admitted unconditionally. Excelsior College, in my opinion, requires to many courses for MBA completion. With 48 credits required, they should go ahead and offer a Ph.D. in Business Administration.

Also, I don't see anything solid about the program. All they will simply do is transfer virtually all courses and print out a sheet of paper that says degree. I know excelsior is regionally accredited, but their MBA program seems to resemble a degree mill.
Maybe someone could give me alittle insight. I dont see how getting a Masters degree from Excelsior would be beneficial? As there are no graduate level Dantes or Cleps, you would have to take the courses required elsewhere and transfer them over. I think it would be more economical to just graduate from the place you are taking the classes from already. Just my oppinon
I think you've made an excellent point. Why would you want to spend a ton of money and go through Excelsior when there are something like close to 200 online MBA programs out there now, many of which are cheaper, more prestigious, and don't require as many credits? What is Excelsior trying to prove?
1. For starters, is that quarter credits or semester credits. Most master's degrees are 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours). 2. Many MBA degrees are 60 semester hours (30 credits of foundation courses for weak little undergrad history majors like me, usually waived for those with undergrad business majors + 30 credits of regular courses) or 90 quarter hours. 3. There are, of course, some three-year master's degrees like the MDiv (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours).
One can just take Excelsior courses or combine with non-Excelsior courses. If one changes job locations frequently then Excelsior might be a good choice. Personaly I would like to see more course options.
The program could be beneficial to military folks who may have attended various B&M schools at various locations. These people--myself included--can and do benefit from schools are willing to consolidate coursework into a cohesive plan that puts them closer to a degree. I know a lot of time and taxpayer money is wasted when schools require GIs to repeat comparable courses they completed eslewhere. That's why the "big 3' are a godsend. Otherwise I might still be sitting there with a hodge-podge of damn near 200 credits with no degree in sight.
