I am at the point where I wish to enroll at Excelsior but I have just a couple of questions. Have students had good luck with the electronic on-line registration process or would I be better off sending the forms and transcripts together in the mail? Also I have failed 2 CLEP exams and I have not yet retaken them. Should I request to have those failed scores suppressed so they do not appear on my transcript? Thanks. Mike
I registered via paper. I just love a paper trail. As far as I know, failed exams do not appear on the EC transcript.
* I registered at Excelsior via online and it was flawless. In terms of speed, it rocks. Transcripts will still need to be sent via mail except; it appears that some can be done via electronic means. * Failed exams (and courses) do not transfer in so they don't appear on the transcript. I've always supressed exams that didn't make the cut-off score but that's a personal decision and not institutional. You can request to not transfer in any course you didn't get a grade you like. The only general exception is that you can't suppress courses taken at Excelsior. Hope this helps....
I too did my application online and it was process the next day. But I express mailed all my transcripts after I had recieved them from the different schools I have attended over the past years in one big envelope through postal service with next day delivery. And the posted them as recieved with 1-2 days. In my opinion the application process went very quickly and smooth. Right now, I am just awaiting for Excelsior to finish evaluating all my transcripts which I hope is completed by April. Because I am trying to Graduate by May.
Some schools are set up to send electronic versions of transcripts. One example of this is the military. When I request a SMART transcript, if the school is set up, an electronic copy is automatically e-mailed to the school. The official paper copy is then dropped in the mail. But as far as the electronic enrollment is concerned, I found it very simple and straightforward. It would probably put you in the 'queue' a lot faster than mailing it in. But remember that the transcripts must come DIRECTLY from the institution you attended. So if you haven't already, request OFFICIAL transcripts to be sent out immediately to the excelsior college office address attn registrar. As for the clep issue, don't worry about it. Only passing scores are recorded.
Thanks for the replies. I have gone ahead and enrolled. I checked with Excelsior and they said I can have the transcripts sent directly to them or I can forward them to Excelsior unopened. I am waiting on one more transcript to come in before I send them all my transcripts. I feel better now that I have taken the plunge. Thanks again. Mike
Supressing Failed DANTES and CLEPS Hi Coach! Do you happen to know if you can suppress failed scores for both DANTES and CLEPS? thanks, Abner
Good luck! Lena, May is just around the corner, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted, ok? Good luck. Abner
Don't think of it as "supressing" those scores but simply that failed test scores are not accepted for credit. Therefor the test does not appear on the transcript. What you might want to supress are test scores that are low and are graded by letter grade. A test score that translates to a C can do serious GPA damage.
Abner, I will try to keep you guys updated; I am getting pretty close to that month with the way these months are going by quickly but I know I am ready to graduate soon. I am anxious to see what this Evaluation from Excelsior will look like when I get it back from them.
